Wow - you have got some major work going on... That will be sweet when you get done.... You must be young and ambitious (like I used to be!)

Eric, is it possible for you to move the engine rearward a little so it ends up in the stock location? If the only problem happens to be the shifter position, you could modify it. If I were you, that's what I'd do.

Please tell me............

your going to clean, prime and paint the engine bay before you spend the time and energy installing the engine. Once it is humming, your going to want a nice shine to the car and nothing bums you out like an aged engine bay with a sparkly engine.

Add a few days to the project and brighten things up.

Just a suggestion....It looks like a winner truck.

i havent really decided yet..

i REALLY like the look of old cars when they look horrible. the only thing i would be cleaning up would be the engine bay, i might go over the outside with some flat black. havent decided yet.

You would love the look of my white REPU then. :)

Anyway, to give you more fuel to finish your REPU project, I've gotta tell you that I love my white truck. The rebuilt R5 13B is nearly ready for its 2nd oil change. The power is increasing as the seals continue to break in. You're going to love your truck when you get it going. Just remember to work slow and steady so you don't burn yourself out.

And I have a red 74 that fits that bill as well.......

it runs like a bat-out-of-hell with a ported, Holley topped R5 power plant. The cab has rust through floorboard air conditioning. Paint is a camo combo of faded factory and rattle can red, and it really does look like shit.

But, I must admit, it is the funnest to drive and I get the most flack from others, but it is nice to be able to deal only with eninge maintenance and not have to spend any time cleaning, waxing, etc. It is so rough and tough, I wash it with scotchbrite pads.....seriously, no kidding.

I enjoy the ribbing, but when they take a ride in it, they always admit it is a fun truck.

boy eric, those pics look familiar. reminds me of when my repu was all apart. took 2 years to get it where it is today. and a VERY understanding girlfriend.

as for engine bay, if you don't want to paint it, i am in the process of putting shiny aluminum sided hot rod insulation in the engine compartment. got the underside of hood, and passenger side of firewall and pass fenderwell done. open the hood and it's like you're in a tanning salon! and it is quieter and reduces heat getting into cab.

should be all done with that insulation before Xmas.
