REPU in the movie "The Rock"

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I was watching the movie "The Rock" the other day (cable has been out due to a snowstorm) for like the third time, and just noticed a blue (Phoenix Blue maybe?) REPU in a crash scene early on in the movie. I'm sure most of you are nodding your heads, saying it's old news, and I agree, but I never noticed it before! I have no idea how it escaped my attention in the past. If you haven't seen the movie, or missed the truck yourself, it is towards the end of the chase scene where Nicholas Cage (in a yellow Ferrari) is chasing Sean Connery (in a Hummer H1). A street car loses control and plows into a few cars, and the REPU is indirectly caught up in it. From the scene, it looks as though the truck may have only sustained minor damage and is probably rotting on some back lot of the studio. The truck has a single stiffener in the tailgate, has the proper "MAZDA" decal, but no "Rotary Power" decal, and it also seems to have a different stripe package than any others I've seen before....

Just a little tidbit to file under the "who cares" section....

An amendment...

OK... got a little bored here tonight and decided to watch the scene in slow motion both forwards and reverse. I am fairly convinced there were three separate crash sequences filmed to make the scene. In the first one (or the beginning of the crash sequence involving the REPU), the Ferrari is blatantly clear of the REPU and never touches it, and wouldn't touch it continuing on it's trajectory. A second later in the scene, the street car is contacting the Ferrari again, this time pushing the Ferrari backwards straight into the front (dead center, no less) of the REPU. In one part of the scene, the REPU has both doors closed and no one around it. A second later, when the Ferrari contacts the truck, people are running from the passenger side, with the passenger door open. Also, I think there may have been two trucks used (or one good one used twice, once damaged, once not). Before the crash sequence, the Hummer is seen driving by the REPU once it crosses an intersection (the REPU is on a corner). It is obvious the front bumper is fairly messed up, and the grille and headlight surrounds are either missing or blacked out (all I can see if the headlights themselves). In the part of the scene where Nick Cage bails out of the Ferrari (before the crash involves the truck), you can see the front driver's corner of the REPU and the grille and headlight trim (at least on that side) are there, and in good shape. In part of the whole ordeal, you can see that the truck still has the correct steering wheel (or one out of a 4) in it. Too bad.

Oh, and it's obvious the Ferrari in the crash is a kit car, but in slow motion it is hideously obvious, and laughable. It was also funny seeing the airbag inflate from down on the floorboard somewhere.

Yep, seen it. Did you notice the passenger door appears to have two speaker holes in the door skin?

Yeah, I did catch that. Got a real kick out of the discrepancies between the two scenes that were obviously mixed together to create the whole sequence.
