!!!! Mazda is looking for a REPU !!!!
Mazda Japan is looking for a show-condition REPU to exhibit in the Tokyo Commercial Vehicle Show. This is the email I received from the show planner in Japan:
quote:
We are now looking for RE Pick-up truck.
Purpose is to exhibit the vehicle at Tokyo Commarcial Vehicle Historic Car show. We thought it may be good chance to recoginize rotary engine history back to the peoples mind even at the Commercial Vehicle Show.
Unfortunately we haven't got any show condition vehicle in
Japan. Do you know any truck or truck owner who can lent the RE pick up to our show?
Tokyo Commercial Vehicle Show will be held at October 29th to November 3rd.
From budget point of view, we would like to ship it over sea, so the vehicle needs to ship out mid September, and return to US before Christmas.
We may invite the owner to show and MC for his return if he
wishes.
If you are interested, and can live with-out your show-condition REPU for 3 months at the end of the year, please contact me!!

WOW!!!!
I nominate Jeff Klopp and his 28K mile original yolk-yellow '77 REPU... have yet to see any pix of one more original or low-miles cherry stock! If you're out there with one, now's the time to speak up! Wish it was me... with a cherry '74.

I wonder how much they are willing to pay? Not that my truck qualifies by any stretch of the imagination.

$$$$
I bet a collector in Japan would love to pick one up. Especially after sitting in a Rotary display in a trade show.
Who knows, maybe it may be worth it to send it over?
I am anxious to see one go and represent us.
The "not so completely forgotten after all" REPU owners.
You know we need a club logo or a window decal of sorts. With this web site address.
We do drive or are intending to drive a very unique vehichle. Unique even in the Rotary relm.
Any ideas? Any one care?

REPU logo
That sounds like a great idea, need someone with a good imagination to come up with something original with the REPU and this web site address on it to put the truck as a vent window sticker or back window or maybe even at the top of the windshield. I'd like to see someone develop a keychain and beltbuckle with the REPU logo. Brass or Pewter? Anyone else?

i like the keychain idea, but you can count me out of the belt buckle. Sounds a little too country to me I currently use a blue leather keychain with an old-school mazda m fob to hold my repu keys.

I think an eighth scale 1 dimension pewter replica of a REPU would look great around your waist.
How 'bout a club tattoo?

Hmm, a 1D REPU picture on a belt buckle would be kinda cool. Maybe somebody could study it better and make it a slightly 'relief' style where it's raised from the background a little. Make it a non reactive metal (so your hands don't smell like coins etc) whenever you fool around with it. That would be cool. Or a decent looking bumper/window sticker. I have a couple of www.3rotor.com stickers. Why not stickers for here?

FOUND
Ed, in LA with that ultra clean REPU (look for SevenStock 4 pic) has agreed to have his REPU sent over.
The only problem is this year's SevenStock will be without it, since it has to be shipped well before Sept 28th.
Good news is *you* can be the super clean REPU owner at SS5...
Thank you all who offered your REPU!! I'll keep you informed if anything changes.
