differences in body styles
Hey, looking at the repu up in the top right of this page...notice how the bed goes all the way down even with the cab.
now look at this yellow truck on the top of this web page:
www.monito.com/wankel/repu.html
Notice it does not have a bed that goes all the way down as far as the cab does.
Does anyone know why there are these differences?
Maybe tow capacities? 1800 vs 1600?
any Ideas??
Thanks, I ask because I have a 77 that does not go all the way down, but have seen a few 77's that do?!

I believe you're looking at...
...the effects of a band of black paint, (or decal), on the cab's rocker panel. That, coupled with the relative lack of detail in the digital image you're viewing... ;)

I am a new repu owner so don't take me to serious but this is what I think.
First of all your looking at the drivers side in the above picture. On the passenger side there would be a battery and no gas cap. Someone "photoshoped" the image and flipped it. As far as the bed being a different height, this is what I think. The above one has been modified in some way. Either digitally or possibly this is a Ford Courier bed, from what I've seen some did came down.

Actually, the black under the bed was done long, long... LONG before photoshop... the pic up at top is a blue-colored one from the 74 sales brochure/specs sheet:
http://mazdarepu.com/Gallery/uploads/74RepuBrochure.jpg#
I hadn't really noticed that:
a) that image is flipped
b) the under-door area is black.
I agree, the black under the door looks nice, or the bed extending down to have one solid line there looks good.
Just funny how an image like that can get transformed...

Um, he just painted his rockerpanels black.
Take a closer look at those pics. If it helps, specifically you want to look at the pic of his cab w/ the door open.
