I just posted up pics of My Truck.

Well I finally got around to getting the pics posted. They are from last week. For now I am getting ready to rewire the whole truck probably with a kit from Painless Wiring. Then I will chuck the old block out and hunt for a rotary engine. I also need to get rid of the camper on my truck. It is missing the pass. side window and door. If anyone would like it you can have it. I live in Santa Monica California.
As you can see the truck's engine compartment has been tampered with alot, that is why I have decided to customize the truck instead of trying to restore it. The seats inside are from a '94 integra, I triead civic seat but they were too tall, these are a bout 2 inches shorter, without the head rest they fit sort of like the bench seat. If I manage to modify the rails some more they will fit even better.
The tailight lenses I have, except the one still in the bag, are the old ones I had lying around. They were in good shape but dirty and looked worn so I sanded the faces with 400 grit and put a coat of clear on them now they shine just like the new one. The front grille on the truck is an old beat up one that I have. I also have an original one put away, just incase....
Well.., any Ideas, suggestions or criticism would be appreciated.

Make syou want to hurl doesn't it?

Isn't that piston engine a sickening sight in the REPU. I want to get it out already but I have no space to do it, till I tow it to my buddy's shop to swap the engine. Till then I will have to put up with that horrible sight.

Too bad I got stuck with a Freak truck. In a couple of the pics you can actually see where the original engine mount crossmember was supposed to be, but it was cut out when the swap was done. Now I am going to have to fabricate sumthin' but I will wait till I get the engine to see what is best.

I will probably get some cardboard and cover that cheap boinger engine.

Where is the Vin number on the truck?

The VIN (not VIN number) is located near the brake distribution block (is that what that thing is called?). Think of it as being behind the glove box and right near the hood where it hits the support screw on the passenger side. Look for PA136 and 1308 on it. Mine looks really weathered and was hard to read. Yours, by the looks of it, probably has been spraypainted over.

Tell you what: if you can get a 2nd gen engine for that truck, the boinger's motor mounts may be usable since the 2nd gen mounts are on the intermediate housing. If I were you, I'd still weld in a piece of metal where the stock motor mount crossmember was because it will help to re-stiffen the chassis. I mean it couldn't hurt, could it?

I feel a little better now.

By the way, that is not the first REPU I've ever seen with a boinger in it. 10 years ago, a couple friends got an REPU that had a Nissan or something truck 4 banger in it at one point (engine bay was empty, but had all the signs of evil in it). They parted it out. Infact, the bed is laying on top of another REPU's bed in this pic: http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/cars.html#77repu

Ok, I unscrewed the VIN plate from the section you mentioned, before I spray painted, but it was basically a blank aluminum plate. Is there any other sort of Identification on the truck some where?

Anyway, I had thought of using the existing mounts to mount a second gen engine but it seems to me that the engine would be a bit high on the frame with those mounts. It would probably fit but I would like to get the engine to sit as low as possible in the chassis to lower the Center of Gravity. I guess I will see what is best when I get the engine. I will definately take your advice on adding a crossmember, even if I dont use it, just to stiffen the frame. do you think it might be a good idea to stiffen the rear of the truck too or does it have adequate suport already?

Yeah I have a clean title on the truck but the vin plate is all scratched up and hard to read. It is also dirty. Is there sumthin' I could use to clean it without wiping off what ever numbers are left? or do you think Mazda might be able to re-issue a new vin plate?

I also have a spare one somewhere lying around, but it is from a truck we found at the junkyard. But I have to check the registration to see if the numbers are much different. So that I can modify the plate.

Here is a good Idea, Once you clean the plate go to a plastics shop or hardware store and get a thin piece of clear acrylic(maybe 1/32) and cut to the size of the vin and screw it in in the same place to serve as a shield for the plate.
