Fuel Level Sender Swap?
OK.. I'm sitting on an NOS REPU and an NOS B1600 fuel level sender. My truck's sender (as I'm sure most of yours' as well) is in-op. Here's my question- since both of the senders are nearly identical except for the conectors, does anyone know if the B1600 can be adapted to work on a REPU? The REPU sender is of course a two wire deal, presumably a variable "hot" and a ground. I'm assuming the B1600/Courier sender's one wire hookup is just the variable hot, with the ground being located elsewhere on the wiring harness (maybe at the gauge itself). Does anyone know if the ground on the REPU connector were just connected to a body grounding point, think it would work? I'm very hesitant to mess with any electrical around fuel that I don't know for sure if there is a short circuit risk, and I really don't want to use my NOS REPU sender unless absolutely necessary, since they've been NLA seemingly forever.
Neal.

I was looking at the wiring diagram for my '77. It's showing a single wire (yellow) connected to the sender with an internal ground. As long as the resistance of the slidewires is the same I don't see why it wouldn't work. May want to install a dedicated groung wire to the fuel tank just to be safe.

Also....
Check out 3rd page of wiring diagrams posted in photo gallery. It actually shows detail in tank level sender of B-1600 and REPU....

Thanks...
I thought the same thing but was afraid I may not have been reading the diagrams right.. but since you are seeing it the same way, my idea may work after all. Guess I may try it this weekend. We'll see if I can't start a fire...
