Tires,and alignment

Hey guys,

My 74 is in need of new tires, and I want to ask you guys what your reccomendations are. I just need 4(maybe 5) round black runbber things, and I am not in need of ultimate performance,as I don't push the truck very hard, and I rarely if ever use it as a truck. The tuires on it now are P195/70-R14 Yokohamas that were on it when I bought it 5 years ago. The tires were newer when I got it,but now they are dry-rotted,and worn bad on the outer edges.

Also the truck has issues with the suspension due to the previous owner cutting the front springs, and lowering it without doing it the right way. Is there any chance I could get this aligned the way it is with cut springs? I would like to raise it back to factory spec, and Neal is working on getting me factory springs, but in the meantime I would like to fix the alignment even if only for now,and try to fix the clunking I get when I trun the wheel beyond a certain point while manuvering in parking lots,or my driveway.

Any help on tis would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

I don't think you will get a "true" alignment with the lowered springs. The shop can align it as best as they can, but they will not be able to go by the factory recommended specs.

I bought some Hankook tires (H714s if I remember correctly- I posted a thread on it somewhere here) that are fairly decent inexpensive tires that only set me back about $220 or so for the set of four.

Neal.
PS- I will hopefully be able to disassemble the parts truck in the next month or so, as my work schedule will slow down a bit in two weeks.
