Im new to this forum

but are the coils new have you cleaned out the distributor cap wash it out with soap and water with a rag check to see if rotor button is good crank it at night and see if the plug wires are sparkin...i had a honda that didnt start sparkin though the wires till around 2500rpm it was wierd
are the points clean plugs too also look for damaged wires throughout the harness carefully

Just a few more thoughts...

Are we certain it's the ignition cutting out and not fuel issues?

Ignition:
If you're still running the points and condensers, replace them and make sure the new ones are properly gapped and the dwell is set right. Also, as stated above, make sure the cap and rotor are clean and there isn't too much wear or corrosion.

Fuel:
Also sounds like maybe you have the floats improperly set, or may have another issue in the carb such as a blocked air bleed, bad accelerator pump, or maybe even a stuck secondary linkage?

Neal.
