Mazda , or Courier

I am told that the Mazda is the same as the old Ford Courier. I am looking to purchase an 81 Courier or a Mazda with the same Frame. Anyone know which Mazda model was same as Courier (7) seven foot bed .. Thanks Al

The B1600, but then again, the piston Mazda pickups and Couriers were pretty similar, regardless of year untill the Courier was cancled.

We haven't called the little Ford pickup a Courier since 82'. Its been called a Ranger over here. And is nothing like the B-Series body.
Mazda still made the B-series truck along Courier lines until 84 when the new B-series Body came out. Which was nothing like the Ford Ranger.

Yeah it sux that they don'y make the courier here in the US anymore. I like the design. The Mazda B-series we know here in the US was offered in all the other parts of the world till 1998. It got a slight Face lift in 96. and it is just like the courier offered in that same part of the world...They even had four door versions since a long time ago.

Mazda built Pickups

I would like Mazda to continue building their own pickups and just maybe there would be enough interest in a new Rotary sport shortbed...

Mazda-built PUs? That would be nice . . .

I wish we could still get a mazda pickup here, but the B-series is just the ranger now I believe. Up until '93 I believe mazda was at least its own truck but now its just the ranger with a mazda badge stuck on it.

WOW!!

my second post on this froum, and already Im learning something new.
you guys in america dont get couriers or B-series any more?
here in Australia, at least into 2000-ish we still get the Mazda Bravo ute and Ford Courier (when I say ute I mean pickup) they run a 12Valve SOHC 2.6L petrol or some diesel thing, in 2 or 4WD options, umm normal cab, extra cab and dual cab options.

I really hope I have misread this post and you guys still get them over there, as if I could afford it I would buy a 98 spec B2600 4WD or similar and try to fit a 13B from an FD between the rails :)

We still get a Mazda B-series but it is basically a twin of the Ford ranger. The Mazda Bravo you guys get is Nice looking.. That one has the body lines of the American 1993 B-series, but the Front grille hood and Bumper were updated in 96 in Australia.. and the interior was updated too.. I have always wanted to get that Australian front end for my 1990 B2600i.. Then it would look just klike your 98 Mazda Bravo.. We never got a Dual cab version either..

you guys need mazda utes back in the US :)

you cant even think about rotorising them rangers, they look waaay too big for a rotor to pull along nicely.

Not if it had a turbo to give it some torque. A 20B would be plenty for one of those, I'd think.

The first new-style B series pickup I ever saw reminded me of a JC Cosmo. Since then, I've entertained the thought of installing a 20B in one.
