also which diffs would fit in my 74 so i could just cruz on the freeways?

There is the plate in the engine compartment, passenger side firewall.

The VIN is also stamped onto the frame rail. Drivers side, top of frame rail in the engine compartment. All the way forward. Under grit and grime typically.

Ford courier has taller rear gears going all the way up to 3.60. You can still find these in the junkyard The 77 REPU has a 3.90.

A Torsen Gleasen limited slip differential will work with all of these with the spacer kit. Search 'Torsen' on this site and you'll find instructions to order from fuzzyeye and price.

I'd buy your 4.625 if it's in good shape.

the diesels came with 3.30 gears and you can put the torsen in without a spacer
