LSD options

So until the LSD install kit comes back to life.. what are our options?

Can we swap over any other the rx7 pumpkins?

What can be done to get a LSD dropped into our trucks short of a full Ford Explorer 8.8 swap?

I haven't found or 100% confirmed any Mazda LSD pumpkins that are plug and play complete pumpkin into REPU rear end housing, and using REPU axles... Let alone any that also have a gear ratio that we would want.

The REPU is a 31mm x 30 spline so that rules out everything before 2nd gen TII. 2nd gen NA uses a smaller axle and no worky with REPU components.

http://solomiata.com/Drivetrain.html
differential shaft diameters and splines:
7" small axle = 25mm x 24 spline (808, RX-3, 79-83 RX-7)
7" large axle = 27mm x 26 spline
7" S2000 = 29mm x 28 spline
7.5" small axle = 27mm x 26 spline '84-03 B2000/B2200 & early 95-97 Sportage
7.5" large axle = 29mm x 28 spline ('98-05 Sportage)
8" = 31mm x 30 spline. TT/TII/929

The 2nd gen has too long a pinion to work with REPU driveshaft, the 3rd gen and Rx-8 have a short pinion but their diff case is for IRS and has a hole in both sides for the half shafts to go thru.... will never fit in a REPU axle housing. All the Mazda truck stuff I looked at that is early enough to absolutely fit into REPU (like a B1800 or Courier) are open diff. What about B2600/B300/B4000 rear ends??? Unfortunately putting a LSD in a Japanese Mini Truck didn't take off until the 1990's.

Miata have the screwey PPF and won't fit, and early Miatas have the smaller 7" ring gear which is less durable. I'm pretty sure REPU has the 7.5" ring gear 'hybrid' for more strength. Or perhaps the 8".

But to shed some hope on the matter, this looks promising:
http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=302816&ukey_make=995&ukey_model=14351

And will this fit? It says 30 spline Mazda truck or Rx7 ???

It would be cheaper and easier to find a competent drivetrain shop with a talented machinist to re-do the two spacer kit. It's not complicated, just detailed.

I've seen a complete GSL-SE rear axle housing put in a REPU, you can use 4 links, a Watts link and coil springs too! It will be lighter than REPU, and has clutch type LSD but the smaller 7" ring gear. If you make <200 hp it will work just fine.

For kicks I just checked out my Isuzu Amigo axles, 30 spline x 32mm :-(

You now have all the knowledge I have on Mazda LSD diffs. Go for it!

Spacer Kit

Thanks Brad.

I know a very talented fabricator. Problem is I have no idea how to explain exactly what needs to fabricated, nor can I sketch anything to help.

If I can even get the above details, I will for sure have the parts made. All the milling equipment is readily available.
