Took the REPU to the track

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway opens their 1/4 mile every other friday to street racers, so they have a controlled environment to race in, instead of on, well, the streets.

I took my REPU out, my best time was a 16.0, with a f'd yup reaction time of 1.11. Arg! But I crossed the 1/4 at 90mph... And I shifted like a wuss. I'm sure I could knock a good second or more off if I shifted a redline, and had a perfect 0.5 reaction time. Then there is the whole matter of tuning my beast. I'm sure I could get more performance out it the engine with a tuned map.

Practice, practice...

You're on the right...track... :)
Would a LSD in the pun'kin help any? What kinda rubber? Hookin' up OK on the launch? One-wheel burnouts suck...

Don't worry about reaction time. It has NOTHING to do with elapsed 1/4 mile time. Each lane is timed individually and YOUR lane's timer doesn't start until YOU pass the starting line beam... and vice versa for the other lane.

Reaction time ONLY comes into play when you're racing someone.

The winner is the one who crosses the line first....so if you are faster than the guy next to you by .2 sec, but he has a reaction time .3 sec faster than yours... then he runs a slower 1/4 mile time, but HE wins by .1 sec.

Hey Klaus . . .

That reminds me...

What do you think the best option for getting LSD in there are? I'm not interested in a Lincoln Locker or anything.

I was actually thinking of slapping a GM rear with posi in there cause there's so many disc brake conversion kits available.

Whats the width from flange to flange on that rear anyway? The '95 rustang rears are LSD and disc brakes but their 58".

Rob at Pineapple Racing

should have the answer to your question, Martin. As for the flange-to-flange, I'd have to go out and measure! Don't know about the GM...perhaps DPassmore does? My take on swaps was that the Ford product was the preferred option...

Nice man, just think a standard SERIES IV RX-7 hits a mid 15 QTR mile, and it's turbo'd.
