paint options/opinions

Hey guys and gals I would like to get my REPU looking sweet come spring time. The only major things it needs is paint, tailgate decal which I have allready priced from VRD,and I would love the nice racing stripe kit for the rockers that VRD sells. My questions are should I go with the Lawn green paint again, which seems to be a non clear coat paint?Or should I go with a similar green with a bas coat clear coat system?I don't think I am shooting for a show quality job here but I know once I start it(like my RX-7)The simple re-paint will become a full on restoration.I suppose I could be spending money on worse things.Right?Another question is what are your opinions on spray on bedliner in the bed to help with dents maybe from the inside out and to stop rust and rott(big issue up here in the NE)?Oh yeah back to the paint.I am not against the factory color but I am wondering if it's worth it once I have decided to re-paint it to just go with the factory color.Sorry to be long winded.I also have some exhaust questions but that is for another time.

Chris

I can't tell you which to go with, but I'm leaning more towards a clear coat job myself. I've see non-clear coat paint jobs that look spectacular so its not the shine so much that swayed me, but that I plan on a gull decal kit from VRD myself. That being the case I'll be laying down my colour coats, then the decals then clearing over the decals. I *HATE* that waxed buildup on pinstriping and other decals and besides which its just the best way to go.

We've painted parts on my father's bikes and have always cleared over the decals. The decals on my bike are cleared over too. I've liked the results in all these instances so that's where I'm going with mine.

It should help with the rot (but if you don't undercoat then its all moot) and I would think that it might help the inside-out dings a little, like say if you're throwing chain back there or something, but if you're hauling block or something it just isn't going to do anything.

Personally I want to lay down a wood floor in my bed, and if I do that I'm going to try to build SOMEthing along the sides to keep things from punching out the sheet metal from the inside. I'm some time away from messing with it though so you'll be done with your project before I come to any determination on how to make it happen.

VRD?

I'm new here and I tried to locate VRD that was mentioned for getting the Rotary Power decal for my tailgate but I can't find them. Where are they? Do they have a website etc. I'm located in Spokane, WA. Thank you. I really like this group.
