2ND GEN 6 PORT INTO REPU?

I WAS WOUNDERING IF A 2ND GEN 6 PORT ENGIEN COULD BE INSTALLED INTO THE REPU ON A VERY VERY VERY SMALL BUDGET? ALSO CAN IT BE CARBED? OR WOULD THE FUEL INJECTION WOULD BE THE BEST? ANY INFO ON THIS SWAP WOULD BE GREAT.....

...sure! that's if...

Sure you can update the motor...that's if you've got enough of a budget...I'd say you 1st need to locate a 'good enough' used motor you can pay for with some dough left over--get the fuel injection and the computer and harness to go with--all the goodies, for sure--you might even want to take a chop of the exhaust system, far enough back to keep all the converters & stuff--unless your ready to spring for a header and proper exhaust, too. While you're at it, if your repu's not already been 5-speeded, find yourself a ribcase tranny from an rx-4 or 1st-gen rx-7--the second gen. one won't fit in terms of shifter placement.
Of course, much can potentially be achieved for less $$$ with your existing 4-port motor, privided it's not burning excess oil yet, or has other 'fatal' flaws...

Assuming you have both motors. The original REPU and the 2nd gen motor.
Swap the oil pan,oil pick up tube, front cover from old to new motor.
If you carb....
You'll need to adapt your 4 port manifold to your 6 port motor. Someone makes this adapter, but I am not sure of who..
Get Racing Beat item # 18147. Its a fuel injection hole plug for the motor.
If you inject...
I hope you have the whole car w ECU. And somewhere to lay out the whole harness and trace what you need and dont need. Then figure out where you can mount and power the ECU where it will function in a dry place.
The tranny mount may have to modified. More than likely it will. Just move the holes foward or backward which ever you need.

to 6 port or not to 6 port that is the queston

i have my 4 port and a 1st gen 7 tranny buth the 13b is hurt, i think? when i try to crank it, it cranks but it does not turn on. after words it starts leaking fuel from the rear rotor exhaust port. i think the seals are the weakest link, good bye....... i watch too much tv, uh. well i was looking for a cheaper way to have my repu up and running. but if any one hac a cheaper and better way let me know.....

I put a 6-port from a 86 rx7 into my '74 REPU. $600 for an 86k mile motor from a wrecking yard delivered to my house. I also bought a Weber side draft carb for it, $600 used with about 2 hours on it, $800 is about the new price. I used the exhaust manifold off the rx7, distributor and ignition from '81 - '85 12a with electronic ignition. Points were too much of a hassle. After all the gaskets and exhaust work and other miscellaneous parts I think my motor swap cost me about $1500
