acceleration problems

My 1986 Mazda B2000 has been intermittently hesitating and stumbling during periods of acceleration. This is especially apparent when it is cold but it also does it when it is warm. Any tips?

Now that this is in the right section... it could be a lot of things...

Carburetor out of adjustment

Fuel pump gone bad
Fuel filter plugged up
Bad plugs
Bad timing
Wacky emissions equiment.

Could even be...

...a tankful of crap. Happened to me once, long ago... close examination revealed pinhead-size drops of water suspended in the 'gas'...draining the tank was insufficient; had to tear down the carb to get it all...

Could also be numerous other things--like clogged main jet(s) or emulsion tube(s)-- or a combination.
