Is the Rx7 Turbo ][ 5 speed an option?

Anyone ever put a T2 5 speed tranny in REPU?

Yep:

You'll need a new:
* Tranny Support Cross Member
* Drive Shaft

And the shifter sites far back, you'll either

A. Have to cut the floor :O
B. Move the move the shfter up

Will a old ribcase or 79-80 rx7 tailhousing work with T][ trans? That would move the shifter up perfectly, if it's compatable.

at the very least you would have had to replace the flywheel on your engine and the yoke on the end of the driveshaft to use the T2 tranny.

I am very interested in this as well, i would like to hear from anyone who has done this modification and who modified the shifter location as well.

Regarding my incomplete post.....

I did have to modify the drive shaft and cross member. I had a t2 yoke put on my repu shaft at a driveline shop, about $100.00. The cross member had to be lowered 1". New holes were drilled in trans rubber mount to line up with t2 bolt holes. And yes, (ouch!) the shifter hole does have to be opened up. Fortunately, my truck came with a 2nd gen. non turbo trans in it so the previous owner did all the cutting for the shifter. I think thats about it. Oh ya, had to change the fly wheel too.

Has anyone done this mod without cutting the hole, i have been told it is possible to change the shifter location but don't know anyone who has actually done it, I know that you can't use the 79-80 Rx7 tailshaft housing trick like you can with the NA tranny because the output shaft is not the same size, any help would be appreciated.

it may bolt up to the T2 tranny case but if memory serves me correct the output shaft is much larger in diameter than the NA trannies, hence the difference in the driveshaft yoke so i don't think i can use it.

of course everything is machineable.......
