goin fuel injection 13b from a FC..got some questions.

hey,
I'm currently installing N/A fuel injection from my 86 FC. is it possible to run the existing chassis wiring harness? or would i be better off running all the wiring harnesses from my fc. Also what kinda fuel pump should i use? is there a way to "easily" modify my FC pump to fit my repu tank? thanks!

FC Wires & FP

I think it would be easier (and possibly more reliable) to use the FC's wires... from my experience, the harness on some repus is "teh suck." On mine, some wires were corroded, and too small of a gauge for some of the pull of the newer electrical system.

next up: fuel pump. This is the problem with my truck right now. I have an external walbrow pump... it was not a good setup, and caused fuel starvation. I'm redoing the delivery system to put it into the fuel tank. I got the whole fuel assembly out of an FC, and am adapting it for the REPU's tank (cutting the top of the tank, and putting it inside.

Nice Idea! sounds good to me. have you already takin dimensions? if it does.. all I basically need is HP fuelline, filter, and pump right? I kinda dont wanna scrap the original tank, but if the dimensions are similar I'm sure I can fab some tank straps. keep me posted

Yeah you definitely want to use the FC Engine wiring harness. You will also need to pull the Front harness out to control the ignition and the alternator connections. I wonder if its possible to just put the FC fuel tank in with a modified filler neck? I have a lotta FC experience and hoping to startup a REPU project with a 3rotor, so I plan to visit and contribute to this site when I can.

if your using an 86-87.5 donor be sure to use the resistor pack for the injectors (under air box, big round plug) or you could fry your ECU. If you need any wiring help with FC stuff lemme know.

ya...know about that one. Good looking out! What about the ones mounted infront of the radiator on my fc? what do they do? also I went through the interior fuse box. removed the sunroof, p/s, p/w, defog, rear window wiper, antenna, and cooling fan(wierd...wheres the cooling fan?like a/c?).

As someone who has personally installed an FC turbo engine in a REPU you need to use the FC harness. THe stock REPU harness will not handle the amperage loads. In fact I had to use a separate switch for IG on for the PCM because there is too much voltage drop in the ignition switch in the start position and it shuts the pcm off while cranking. I used a Holly Fuel Injection external pump and a 93 RX-7 fuel filter with my stock tank. However it needs to be modified because you run the risk of fuel starvation below 1/4 of a tank due to slosh. Pull the PCM out of the right foot box and keep the entire right side harness. That is the easy one. The PCM also has one connector that is part of the dash harness. Pull the dash and keep that harness. Use a factory wiring diagram and pull out about 20 lbs of junk that you will not need. I used the FC alternator, and double bolted both B+ cables to the starter terminal. This allows both truck and RX-7 harnesses to work easily. Do not forget the Atmospheric sensor box in the right kick panel.

ok...its been a bit but I have the enigne with harness, and ecu in the truck. My problem is fuel. the first reply from admin said he had fuel starvation with an external pump. which fuel pump were you using? I pulled my both my tanks, they are similar but I dunno if I can fab something without running into potential problems. The only solution I see is running an external walbro255 model# gsl392. I've already ordered the pump along with the por-15 gas tank restoration kit.
