Coolant hoses?

Anyone have some part numbers for upper radiator hose, lower rad hose, and heater hoses? I am trying to replace the whole cooling system and I have everything but the hoses.

Got a new water pump, thermo-stat, heater core, heater valve, and radiator modified from a Series 1 RX7. It'd be silly to do all this without new hoses.

Forgot to ask, do any or all of the Series 1-3 (1st Gen) RX-7 coolant and heater hoses work on our trucks? Even if they are close is okay, I could always trim a little I suppose.

Thanks,
Vince

hoses

I went to Kragen and bought generic straight rad hoses with the spring in the middle. I think they're 1.5" I.D.

Bought a generic little hose for where the lower rad plumbs into the hardline for heater. Kragen.

I would bet 1st gen hoses would be a close fit since you have a 1st gen rad and the water pump assembly looks extremely similar to me.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm guessing too with the 1st gen stuff. I have my buddy at a Mazda shop checking with the local Mazda dealer tomorrow. Hope he calls me back because I want to put this thing together.

I'd like to get actual Mazda heater hoses (the ones to the heater core) if I could because they are bent at the right angles and I think the rubber is little better.

Gates makes the upper and the lower hoses, part #'s 20900 and 20953. Not the heater hoses though.
Where did you get the heater control valve, I can't find one?

Thanks a ton for those numbers! Now I just need to find out if anyone local carries those. I don't even know who carries Gates brand hoses.

Oops, forgot to tell you about the heater control valve. I got a brand new Mazda one from Atkins Rotary. It was very expensive though and I can kick myself for not trying to get it through a friend of mine with a Mazda shop. I just knew Atkins had it in stock so I didn't feel like waiting forever to save a few bucks. Plus, you know how hook ups go... takes forever to get an answer and a price, then they forget to order it.

Maybe you can find it cheaper. I paid $70. I know it's possible to use other heater valves from GM's but I get lazy sometimes and just want things to be OEM. Custom everything a PITA!

Here is the Mazda part# for the Heater Control Valve:
2677-76-134A

Hope that helps. If all else fails just get it from Dan at Atkins.

Whoever carries or can order 'em,

Gates makes the best belts, hands down... so it only stands to reason their hoses would be superior as well.

As far as that 1st gen radiator, etc.: Hope it's from a GSL-SE, (are they larger capacity?), or else you might be in the same boat as I've been, what with running an old rx-3 one in a REPU... (Somewhat functional, but far from ideal!)

Most important you retain the stock REPU/Cosmo?rx-4 oil cooler!

Honestly I don't know if it's a GSL-SE radiator or not. All I know is is thick as hell. Definetely not OEM because of its thickness. It was NOS at a Mazda shop that closed down in the area. The owner gave it to me for free and then I had a radiator shop change the lower neck to be straight versus the 45 degree bend the RX-7 has.

I'd like to use the REPU oil coiler but oil cooler mounts are different on the RX7 radiator. I might just use a oil cooler from a GSL-SE.

Yeah they work fine. I put a set on My 77. I got them used and had to buy fittings to adapt to the enegine and oil cooler.

Thanks, I took some measurements and looks like I might be using the SE ones.

BTW: I couldn't find Gates hoses but all the local parts stores carried Goodyear hoses. They could use the Gates part numbers so that helped out.

The part number for the Goodyear radiator hoses are 60944 and 60940 for anyone who might need them.

I also was able to get the molded heater hoses from Bruce who runs the REPU yahoo group. Thanks for all the help!

This is a small forum but a great one!!!
