T2 tranny shifter fix
well, i've talked and talked about it .. asked around and gotten info.. still have not had the chance to do it.. BUT, i finally got the pics of a b2600i tranny.. and a t2 tranny..
the whole problem with puttin a t2 engine in our trucks is the shifter placement.. as some of us already know.. While chatting with mike(j9fd36 on nopistons.com) he mentioned that there may be similarities with the trannies since you can stick a rotary on a b26ooi just by putting the t2 bellhousing on it.. meaning the cases are similar.. well.. here is proof..
i found these pics on ebay.. and I know they are for a 4x4, but sans the transfercase the 2x4 version should be good to go.. OR youd be able to do a 4x4 repu..

abd here is pic of a t2 style tranny

now from what I understand, the b2600i tranny is real similar to the T2 tranny.. ratios are off a tad in the beginning but the top was the same.. that tranny hooks up to the G6 style engine.. which is also found in the 2.6 liter MPV.. which i have always looked for at the junkyards.. but apparently are super hard to find.. since most i have seen are automatic.. and usually 6 cyl..
in theory the whole back half of the tranny should bolt right up to the t2 center section, moving the shifter by what would seem to be maybe 6-8 inches forward.. i'll be hunting for parts for my repu in the next few months.. hopefully i can score one from an mpv or B2600i and do the swap.. but for now its just food for thought..
