Ignition/Tach question
Trying to troubleshoot my non-working tach. It worked before I did the electronic conversion. I have the yellow/green wire hooked to the + of the leading coil, like wiring diagram indicates. Is there any way to test the tach?
I was thinking about buying another cheapo tach and rigging it up the same way, just to see what happens.
I've pulled the gauge cluster part-way out (steering column prevents complete pullout), looks like theres a solid green wire, yellow, and black wire going into the gauge itself.
Any ideas? Not a biggie, but I'm just the kind of guy that likes to have everything working.

My 77 uses a yellow/white wire for the tach and it is connected to the (-) terminal of the L coil. Signal is always on the switching side. One (+) wire from each coil goes to the respective ignitor on the dizzy.

Oh soorry, hope I didn't lead you astray. The Leading (+) is connected to the ignition and if you still have the smog hooked up, it is connected to the Trailing (+). Some people jumper the L&T together so both fire all the time. The (-) connections go to the ignitors. Gee I'm surprised nobody jumped me for this already.

Nope, you led me exactly where I needed to go. I unhooked the yellow/green wire from the '+' of the coil, attached it to the '-', tach works!
Geez..not the first time I've felt like a moron...
Anyhow, new pics if anyone is interested;
