so you're tired of premixing with your Weber IDA

Solution is here. A neat little project.

haven't fired it up yet

but rest assured it will be humming within 24 hours. need to get a return spring and fab a throttle bracket.

i'm also wanna install an air canister from stock 12a. the big round bluie. route cold air from behind headlight. might even use the hot air flapper as a choke for cold starts.

and also important, it'll be a lot quieter than an open air filter.

less attention when i floor it. stealth repu.

oil injection

You might keep an eye on your oil supply when you fire that beast up..
Careful examination will show oil is injected above the throttle plates, in the stock carb,IIRC, where there is a lot less vacumn..

Be careful and monitor the connection of the hose on the OMP. I used a similar hose to replace the factory ones on my 1975 REPU and when they got hot they would slide right off. If it can be done, I like the connection you have on the carb side. That connection isn't coming off.

thanks guys. the crimped clamp connections are on there real good. the hose won't slide off. the clamp is above a barb so it won't come undone. i'm not a big fan of having the omp line under vacuum as it is difficult to seal air tight under vacuum. i've had to redo the manifold clamps twice, most recently with silicone and a very tight crimp on the clamps via channel locks.

several people on rx7club.com said just use those 2 ports for omp when i asked so i did. i'd rather have it in the carb lid somewhere but no easy way to do that w/o drilling the carb. wonder if i should just put it in the air canister lid right above the aux venturi and have it drop downward????

i've driven it around town with the weber. great carb, really knows how to move air and fuel. the omp lines do not get sucked dry of oil.

i'm also 90% done getting a 1st gen round blue air canister to mount on top of weber ida. just need to rivet it together and seal with silicone. it's pretty sharp, pics and writeup coming.

What Weber carb is that?

I think I have one on my GT-3 racecar with ports above the throttle plates, plugged with brass plugs.

48 IDA

Above the throttle plates would be much better. I'd also like a vacuum port right above the plates for ported vacuum to the distributor for advance but just can't see an easy way to do that.
