automatic tranny?

ok, i don't know why this occured to me at 5:00 AM, but i can't recall seeing a picture of a REPU with auto tranny.
Were automatic transmissions uncommon? Who here has an automatic REPU? or REPU that used to be auto tranny?

Yep

Yep, the stock tranny in my '74 truck was an auto. It was replaced with the 12a and 5speed outof an 83 RX7, I replaced that with the 90 Turbo2 13b with the 90 5 speed.

The shifter was on the floor... I actually think I have the shifter panel somewhere in my parent's garage...

So how much cutting was needed to make the '90 5speed fit?

Like the Guru said, both my 75s have autos. The originally butterscotch, now RX-3SP Impulse blue one with 350,000+ miles on it has towed race cars all over the southeast! The red one only has 4x,xxx miles on it, and didn't do much for most of its life. I got it from a former customer that took delivery of it, and a 76 RX-3 wagon, while he was stationed in Japan. I worked o his cars while at the dealer from about 1979 until he sold them in the mid 90's.

The autos are great for towing. No clutch to worry about wearing out. Just mash the gas and GO!

We used a 1st gen tranny mount, then fabricated a bracket to connect that to the different T2 Tranny mount. The shifter just barely fits where the stock hole is. Prev owners had cut that hole to make it fit the various other tranny motor transplants that they did and never completed.

Mine will be complete for SevenStock5!
