Weber carb acting up

My DCO 48mm carb is dumping all fuel in the bowls into the motor after shutdown. It takes time, like maybe an hour later and the bowls are empty. This makes it hard to start and produces a nice big smoke screen! Not to mention costing me a few extra bucks every fill up.

Guess I need to take the thing apart and see whats going on, anybody seen this before?

if the gas tank isn't properly vented i can see this happen. and, i'd reccomend a fuel return line to return fuel back to the tank.

next time after running the truck, wait 10 minutes then take the gas cap off. if there's a rush of air then there it is.

are the floats set right?

My tank gasket is shot, so it doesnt seal too well. I have never had a rush of air in or out of it when pulling the cap. Could that be a problem?

I think the floats should be good, as I had them pretty high but realized my error and have lowered them quite a bit in recent days. I do have the pump dead headed into the carb but thats what webercarbs.com recommends. I need to dig around in the carb but other than going through the jets is there any passage from the bowl to the intake?

Thanks for the ideas, I will verify there is no pressure build up in the tank

It takes time, like maybe an hour later and the bowls are empty.

Just wondering if the bowls are leaking down ,could you pull the Webers off and fill the bowls with solvent or gas and watch for fuel seeping out and maybe get a view of the leak that way?

I will pull it and check that out, but now my biggest concern is to get my transmission/clutch working again. I hope its just a busted clutch disk.

Since blowing up the clutch I havent driven the REPU much until I finally got it on the road again in the last couple days. Any way, still having problems. I took off the air filter right after shutting down and can watch the fuel drip into the rear throttle body. I think tonight I may pull the carb and inspect it like Tim said.

double check the float level

could be too high and it's a overflowing float bowl dripping down.

or the float bowl is being pressurized due to not properly venting to the air filter

It may have been the floats too high. I re-adjusted them and so far it seems maybe the problem is resolved. I also installed my Carter fuel pump and damn that thing can move fuel and make noise!
