Need a radiator...

I search high and low for a radiator for my 74' but with no success! Can anyone provide any leads to an oem or aluminum radiator??

Shop is saying is beyond repair but if I insist of re coring it...it'll run me about 3 bills! Mind as well get a new one or aluminum!

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a good used radiator, plus other stuff

I have nice one sitting in my shop on a shelf, along with a nice front bumper and very good metal valence, 2 front fenders, hood with chrome strip, rear end center section, rear axles and brakes, rebuilt front calipers, new 9 bolt clutch cover and disc, 13B carbs, nice front grill [3 pcs] and a bunch of other new and good used REPU parts in boxes.
Located at Zip code 27017
Trouble is, no one in REPU land wants to pay what this stuff should sell for, given how rare it is getting.

Bob,

Thanks for your reply! I totally understand what you're saying but at the same time...times are tuff for lot of people despite the rarity of these items. I had a budget for my 74' but all that went out of the window after the body shop got done with it! Anyhow, could you please send me some pics of the radatior? Does it need to be re-core or will I able to drop it in just the way it is?

Please send pics to: top1usa@gmail.com and put Repu items on subject!

Thanks so much in advance!

Tim

I'm using this radiator and it works great. Just have to drill the mounting holes.

Just bought it.
Hey Jeff, Are you using electric cooling fan? If so, where did you buy it?

Cooling Fan

Yeah, I'm using a fan in front of the radiator, pushing air thru. Don't remember where I got it from, but its like a 14" fan.

Just get on Ebay and search, there are plenty of them out there.

Good luck, I'll try to get some newer pics of my engine bay up soon. Old ones are kinda dated.

Thanks a bunch jfaplanet! I do have another question for you tho...this aluminum radiator looks great and I will purchase one for sure. What about the oil cooler that attached to the bottom of the oem radiator? What did you do for that?

It has the mounting bungs on it, but I had to fab some new mounts to attach it, the stock ones wouldn't quite work just right, and the rubber on mine was really dry rotted. I just made solid mounts.

Thanks again for that jfaplanet! Most likely will need to purchase an oil cooler recommended by Brad from one of his older post. Will see if mechanic can do his magic with that......

Much thanks! Great help....

Tim

PS...am actually going to purchase that radiator you'd recommended!

Timtop 1,
I have good condition extras of the 4 oil cooler rubber mounts if you would like you're welcome to them.

I had an old rx7 radiator and the oil cooler mounts were beyond repair.
Ended up fabricating brackets and mounting oil cooler to frame rails in front of motor mount.

Thanks a lot sparky!

Tim

PS....did you have any luck looking for that electric fan for the radiator?

That is a damn nice radiator. 4 pass, 2" thick, 3 row. My stock radiator was recored for $180. Brass 3 row core.

I use an electric fan called Syclone. It's not loud but I did have to fab a fan mount which was a lot of work. Buy the temperature probe & switch separately.

Be sure to flush that radiator first before installing. New radiators can have aluminum weld slag rolling around in there which will eat the water pump or plug coolant passages in the block.

Hey guys!

Been a while...

Just in case any of you did not yet know, this was Orville's yellow truck. Very cool to see it getting restored, IMHO.

Tim -- What they said! Be sure to have your oil cooler thoroughly cleaned out as well.

Cheers, Klaus

Thanks guys...

Brad, thanks...I will be sure to do that first before install! So glad you mentioned it because I was going to mount that sucker when it gets to my door! Thanks again!

Klaus45...I will be purchasing Brad's recommendation regarding the oil cooler! It will be new...do I still need to flush it out before install? Thanks a bunch!

Always flush a new oil cooler. Poured a quart of cheap oil thru mine. Safe or sorry?
