How do I adjust the Redline buzzer?
Redline buzzer goes off at 6000rpm and the tach's redline (well, it's brown on my 74 tach) is 7000rpm. With my lightweight flywheel, 41mm chokes in the Dellorto, 4.62 gears and my heavy right foot I'm always making the redline buzzer ring.
How do I adjust it up to 7000rpm?

Why don't you just let that be an early warning to get ready to shift?
Your motor will love you for it.

Maybe he is like me and drives around at 6500rpm all day, haha.
Or maybe not...
Anyways, electronics in a 1974 vehicle can't be that sophisticated. I wonder if the redline buzzer point could be changed by a well placed resistor. If I can find my Chiltons manual and it turns out that there is a wiring diagram I will try and figure out how the buzzer is set up.

might consider using a rheostat so you won't have to do the hit and miss buying a bunch of different ohm resistors

I looked at my Chiltons manual and now I feel stupid for even thinking that it may have a useful wiring diagram. I would just try sticking a rheostat in-line with the buzzer as Wankel Dreams suggested and see if that will do it.

rheostat
Any idea what ohm range rheostat?
I recall the 1st gen rx7s had a screw on the back of theirs they can adjust the buzzer.
I do like to spin the motor up but passengers keep asking 'why does that buzzer keep going off?'
:-P
Thanks

i'd think that if the rheostat is going to be in line (series) that you should start from zero (giving you your current redline buzzer) and work up from there. its probably not going to take much. i just looked at the diagrams in the gallery, and they weren't much help. I think i have a Mazda wiring diagram at home, and i know i have factory service manual at home. If i get a chance i'll look at them this week.

well, my '76 workshop manual was no help. About all it shows is the pin-out of the connector to the dash meters. My '77 wiring diagram shows the circuits, but doesn't show a buzzer, other than the one that that is for seat-belt when u turn on ignition. is that the same buzzer that sounds for over red-line? I honestly have never heard one in any of the rotaries i've owned...and not for lack of trying!!!

Did anyone ever figure this out? My buzzer actually works...but 6,000 RPM is a bit early.
