Weatherstripping

Whie I patiently await one of you fine folks out there to solve the decal issue, my restore project continues. What years mazda/courier is an exact fit for the door seals?
Also, has anyone used any dynomat-type products that you really liked?
Thanks, and glad the forum is back!

I just recieved the latest JCWhitney catalog, and in there is a complete weatherstrip kit for 73-77 ford couriers that includes ALL door rubber, window felt, windshield rubber (with or without chrome trim!) and rear window strips, rubber for vent window, etc. for $219.99.

If that all fits like it should thats the way to go for a restore. I'm planning on ordering it when my project REPU gets closer to getting paint.

Nice price!

...if it's quality enough... I guess the courier cab didn't undergo any changes '76 to '77, the way the REPU's did...?

There should be no real diff between 76 and 77 weather stripping. There's about five inches of extra steel behind the seat but the doors are the same so the weather stripping should be the same. Same thing for the back window.

I've heard that the couriers don't have the metal trim around the windsheild mouldings so if you care about a faithful restore then that will be an issue. But then again, if we're talking about a "FAITHFUL" restore you have to find some NOS mazda rubber anyway.

I can't leave anything unimproved so a "faithful" restore is out of the question for me. So new modern matieral rubbers sounds like the way to go to me.

The catalog says you can order '73-77 with chrome windshield trim, or '73-79 without the trim. Mine's a 74 and it 'had' the chrome trim, so that's probably what I'll eventually go with.

It doesn't actually come with

...the trim strip in question, does it? That would be too cool... unless, of course, it's somehow different, being a courier piece... ?

Unless that is somehow the case, or you have an amazingly intact one, probably best to replace with the trim-strip-less version...

Seems to only on the catalogue. Anyhoo, Part numbers:

Complete kit with chrome trim around windshield for 73-77 Ford Pickup:
WF488286A, $219.99

Complete kit WITHOUT chrome windshield trim for 73-79 Ford Pickup:
WF488287R, $209.00

Now, I would make sure if you call them that this does fit a COURIER..in reading further it says 'Ford Pickup'. I don't want to steer you guys the wrong way...

Nope..I may have goofed. It does not say 'courier', I could have sworn it did, but looking at it now, just 'Ford Pickup'.

Still worth calling 'em ...

...to be 100% sure. (Who knows, maybe they do have similar for courier... regardless of where it's hiding...!)

I honestly don't remember, seems it was 50 to 70 dollars per side. Not cheap, but OEM quality.

I pulled em off my 86 rx7 sport. my s4 has been like a parts doner for my Repu. you can prolly get some from a local junkyard. or mazdatrix. I actually used 2 different doorseals off of one side of the rx7 to make one for the Repu.<---does that sentance make sense?

I used the generic stuff from Parts America (Old Western Auto). $30 per side. I didn't want to use my new factory ones until after a rebuild. The $30 worked great.
