called rob...

what a nice guy, turns out he used to live in my area and we know some of the same people. I put my order in and it sounds like it may be awhile before there will be a second production on the valance. I suggest that if you haven`t called him yet do so, don`t miss out on this one. Rob also told me that the more we order the lower the price.
Happy New Year All!!

I want a Valance

Mr. Admin,

I've tried calling various times and noone ever answers at 503-233-3878. Is my timing just bad or what. I also tired looking them up via www.Pineappleracing.com and get a message that say's their site has been suspended. What's up with that? Any thoughts? I'd also like or maybe two if they won't be produced again.

Valance Update

Hi Mr. Admin,

Thank you for your input. I first tried to find Pineapple Racing through a search engine that gave me the weird message after you said you could reach it I tried again with just the web address and it worked fine. Thank you and I'll call them on Monday. Also, Thank you very much for this group.

I stopped by today.

Rob, who struck me as a nice, honost guy, (although a real chatty Kathy, not always a bad thing) said hold your horses.

He does not have a wharehouse full of these, he has had only one made, and it is waiting peer review for fit and finish before going through with the production run.

It also struck me that he seems to act like he is only making enough to get the people on his list the part, and have no extras, so call him right effing now and get your name on the list, hell order enough for a lifetime. I know that if I had a wharehouse full of these I might never have to work another day in my life.

When I called...

I confirmed I was good for THREE... I hope the message didn't get mis-written! I'd be up for three air-intake panels of matching precision and quality; can't imagine the price'd be at all outta line, given what that valance looks like/has been quoted as...
If there's any problems with the production/etc., someone please let me know... if there's any way I can help to make it happen...! I would think that for these particular repro's, at this apparent level of quality, they oughta be cheaper by the dozens--and most worthy of being made in such bulk!
I would consider investing my credit to make it so.
Of course, if Rob's sounding at all 'iffy'... gotta wonder on the reliability of 'third' parties who are doing the production on his behalf...?
Always tough to speak for others... everything's contingent...

I am going for the same amount.....

and I assume he will match production to the number of orders taken prior to the finish. Since he can only make one at a time, it will take a while and we have a bit of time. We must remember though that a basic mold is only good for so many as it deteriorates but I am sure that the mold can handle a basic run of 50 or so. If he or the third party choose to opt out of a continuation, I will kick my NOS valance in for another mold and a second run. That is why it was important for me to have one. This part will always be in demand IMO, and I will NEVER hang my NOS valance.

So relax everybody, make your order and lets see what happens.

Pics!

Here it is installed

And another shot...

.
.
.

1. It might be my REPU, but the outter top most bolt holes didn't line up with the stock points. I'm going to measure it again tonight before I call Rob back to give the final go ahead

.
.
.

2. This was the first time, I'm guessing, since the bolts/screws have ever been un-done. They were rusted just enough to strip the phillips screw. Had to dremmel out a new screw head, and use a big driver to get some out. Here's a pic of a dremmeled out screw. I have to make a trip down to home depot or pep boys to get a few replacements. YMMV

Man, that valance,

and your REPU sure look sweet! It IS of great importance to me, however, that those ends fit as well as the rest of the unit... Seems to be the main issue of fitment even with the originals... but then, it's so hard to tell the specifics when all one's originals are more or less damaged!
Do let us know...

I did a test refitting this weekend... and I must have put it on wrong before, since all the holes line up now.

I'll send and announcement to everyone once I get a confirmation from Rob about going into production.

The go ahead has been given. I'll keep in touch with Rob about the progress.

He'd like to get to 20 sold, he's at 15 right now.

I'm taking the emails from some of you that have replied to this thread, and will be emailing you off list/forum to remind you.

Please call Rob at 503 233 3878

With all the hype on all the forums.....

You'd think that orders would be higher? I have a called in order for three, so that leaves 12 for others so far. And I called a week after the pics. I'd a thought I would've been way late. And people wonder why others don't rush to reproduce parts for us.

C'mon people, put your money where we need it. If we don't support the poeple who make us parts, no one will wade into those waters anymore. And who would blame them.

If you need a valance, and you will eventually, buy it now.
