Exterior mirror

I am looking for an factory exterior mirror to use on the right door. The factory mirror that I have is chrome with a round face on a chrome stalk. I believe that this must be the factory supplied mirror because it came unmounted when I purchased the truck in 1974, with existing mounting holes. The truck had West Coast mirror installed. I believe that a driver's door mirror would work on the right door also. Can anyone help me find one? Thanks.

right mirror

Mazda never made a right door mirror in that style and the left one will not work on the right side. I have a NOS left door mirror and I`m looking for a base gasket to use to make a mould. One of the forum members gave me a drawing with the dimensions, but I don`t have the equipment to make a mould from measurements.

west coast mirrors

West coast mirrors is now I have heard them called. They are a vertical rectangle mirror that mounted with arms at the top of the window frame and on the the door panel just below the window.

It is too bad that the factory mirror will not also work on the passenger door. I guess I will have to look for another set of mirrors, perhaps chrome bullet mirror.

Any of those in any junkyard...

...should be snagged immediately, if at all restorable! I've never seen them in any junkyard...

Towing Mirrors

The mirror shown in the REPU brochure was referred to as a "Jr. West Coast" mirror. (Senior or west coast, being on 18 wheelers) manufacturer unknown.

Another towing mirror that was installed back then was the mirror made by the Retrac Co of Minneapolis MN (this mirror had diagonal reflective strips on the backsides and was attached to a U shaped bracket with hinges top and bottom, these were excellent mirrors and I believe Retrac may still be in business.
Both of these mirrors were installed by dealers on new REPUs, B1600s and Couriers during the REPU's production life, they were also found on Luv, Datsun and Toyota trucks, a search of the yards might find you a set.
Bond (GLUE) a doubler on the inside of the door skin to spread the load out and you will avoid the cracks you sometimes see at mirror attach points.

Orville, you 'da man'!

Thanks for the lowdown; I never knew these details... Great recommend on backing up the mounting location as well!
