Reproduction parts survey . . .
I'm curious as to which parts we need most as a community.
I'd like to hear the parts that people need most.
Additionally, how many people here need/want tailgate bump-stops (those little rubber bumbers on the back of the bed to keep the tailgate from smacking the bed when you let it all the way down.
Also curious what if any emblems may be desireable specifically and what smallish plastic/rubber parts in general are needed/wanted.
Metal and fiberglass suggestions are welcome too. I'm just trying to get some idea what the most desireable parts are.
Thanks guys.

My wish list
Things I'd like to see reproduced would be the Battery Box, Valance, Dash Pad, Tail Light Trim Rings and Lenses. I really need two Tail Light Lenses. Anyone have one?

in progress...
Martin I`ve been collecting some NOS parts to use for moulds. So far I`ve got the bumper stops for the tailgate, outer door handle gaskets, backup lamp gaskets, inner door corner pads, hood bumpers and I`m going to try and use my mudflaps (they`ve been on the truck for only a few years and were NOS when I got them), also going to make a mouild of the original mirror base gasket from a drawing supplied by Oviquick (drillpress on order). I`ve also got the rubber packing parts for the wiper arms/linkage but I`m not sure anybody would be interested. I`ve never made reproduction parts so I don`t know how long it will be until I have some finished parts. Also NWACO is working on the front turn signal gaskets using a NOS gasket and when he has finished that I have NOS sidemarker gaskets that he can use.

Excellent. That's excellent.
I'm glad you mentioned these. With as slow-going as my projects are I'd would have hated to lose time by duplicating someone's efforts.
I'm playing with some interesting products to try to get a workable tail light beauty ring without having to actually cast molten metal, hopefully I'll have some preliminary things to look at and improve on in a week or so.
I'm playing with molds at the moment, and besides wasting a tremendous amount of mold material I think I'm learning a little :)

Hey Dan,
What do you suppose the chances are of getting a page up here at mazdarepu.com where members who've produced some replacement parts can put up pics and paypal link?
THis way all the offerings that members have managed to produce are available in one place. Otherwise you have to search the archives to know that Ken makes those awesome taillight gaskets (which I bought and can vouch for their quality).
Craig's big basket of rubber parts are going to be important too.
I'd be happy to host it if we could get a link or something on the links page.
That is if Ken, Craig and anyone else is ok with it.
What do you say?

Yay!
If I can help with anything just let me know.
It would be awesome to have a place where you can see sources for all these hard to find parts. We should put VRDs link on there too. The stripes are cool, but those vehicle info plates and other stuff are probably even cooler.

Awesome idea, guys!
A one-stop REPU resto. shop...! Naturally, all of the above mentioned parts are needed... I would venture to guess that any and every single part unique to the REPU that is no longer available, (not to mention every rubber part unavailable at this point), as well as all wear/crash parts, are good candidates for reproduction... Not to mention those parts still available NOS, but priced out of this world...(like the taillight trims!)
If this works out, it's a big motivator to me product-wise...! :)
