Wow. What a coincidence! Driving my 74 REPU to work today I had the right turn signal on. Worked fine. Hit brakes and the turn signals, gas gauge and tach died on me. A few minutes later it all worked again. Then died next time had brakes and turn signal on.

Is it the ozone?

My REPU is also doing these things. A guy brought one buy today that was really freaking out.

Check the plug on the rear of the cluster. Sometimes a good twist and shake will get it all going.

Mine has gone beyond that. I have a bad plug, that sometimes is a good plug ,but mostly bad.

But new things have started happening. Like blinker only working on one side, gauges stop working, then start back working.

Time to check the ground on the motor mount and the one on the firewall.

my weird thing was that whenever i used the hazzards, the turn signals wouldn't work for like a week. This summer i took the relays apart. there had been about 1/8" of metal transfered from on side to another, making an irregular nipple (for lack of a better word) on one side and a pit on the other. I filled them semi smooth and they work great now.

The 3rd page of the wiring diagram shows a 10amp fuse for the gauges. Gonna check that one soon. Plus the flasher relay mighta gone south.

Good direction to check the engine/chassis and engine/motor mount grounds. My engine/chassis little ground wire snapped this weekend. Off to PepBoys!

Thanks for all the help everyone!

the relays are up under the dash, remove the guage cluster to get at them. there is one for the blinkers/hazzard, and one for the brakes. they kind of are peculiarly wired in series, so check them both.

Well I replaced the stock engine to engine mount ground cable and the real small engine to body ground wire with new 4 gauge cables. Increased voltage at the battery but didnt fix the gauges going out.

This weekend I removed the fuse box, cleaned it off with brake cleaner, got out the cordless drill with wire wheel and grinded all the metal contacts on the fuse box until they were nice and shiny.

Then I noticed some yahoo had spliced the brake light switch + feed into the solid red power wire for the headlight switch. Goofball. So I got rid of that splice and ran a 12 gauge wire to an available not used constantly on bat connection on the fuse box to the + brake light switch feed. Voila~ now brake lights work again. Stock gauges including tach works. But the damn headlights and parking lights don't work. They went out about a week ago. Anyone got ideas? Of course I am concerned that there was an available not used connection on the fuse box, someone has messed with the wiring on my REPU but that's the way it goes.

Anyone have any ideas about this: (?)

So here's the deal: I let one of my REPU's sit too long over the winter; now, I have no dash guages, and no turn signals... odd combination... I did review this, and other pertinent threads. It's not my battery box or engine/motormount ground. (This truck's never had an engine/firewall ground since in my posession--never a problem before...) It's not the fuse box -- checks out fine. Does not appear to be the relays, either... and, the cluster and plug appear to check out OK, too... (Unable to locate any 10 Amp fuse behind there, though.)

I can fire her up, run and drive her... have headlights, taillights, and brake lights... but no tach, temp., ammeter, or gas guage... and no turn signals. Never an issue before...

I've become familiar with the 'usual suspects', and have dealt with them before... and they don't appear to be involved, this time. I'll add another ground, even another fuse, if I thought it would fix this...

What am I missing?

Intermittant Blinker

Usually for this condition, the culprit is a bad ground at the offending light, if you look real close sometimes you can see both filaments are lighted and its grounding all the way through the other circuit.

I neglected to mention...

...that my Hazard flashers function... but, still no turn signals. Ugh! Now to the point of exchanging the various components, one-by-one...
