The Seller has updated the ebay ad...
and mentioned accurately some of what we chatted about. The 5 speed did shift smoothly through all gears when I drove it, but seller mentioned it's a bit sticky in 2nd when cold, although it was cold and it shifted fine for me.
I did also forget to mention the electronic ignition, and in a humorous point, when looking over the engine, he told me he removed the coil wire to prevent theft. Later when we started it up, he laughed that oops, I guess it didn't work because it did fire up anyway even though he forgot to reinstall it.
To be honest, If I didn't have a truck or so many now, and I did have an opportunity to buy this truck several months ago (before I saw it), I wouldn't be opposed to this price or a bit more. With the condition of some of mine, and what work they take, this is a very good starting point especially for a 77, which I am partial to. If I was a bidder now, I wouldn't be too worried I was in too deep.
Travel and return costs are what make it sporty for a few mainly those on the east coast, but you guys have to contend with that on most any REPU deal. This one has nicer tires, wheels, and paint, as well as a running 13B above many of my $300 specials, and that alone is worth much of the difference so far.
I agree with Klaus and Scalli on their evaluations on expectations, it is fair to assume some wear and tear on a vintage truck. To expect much more in condition on a vehicle like this, and not only will you, but you should expect to pay more.
After talking with seller last night, I see he did follow through and added further information on the truck. That is good, as I feel he is a sincere seller with nothing to hide, and he knew of the nature of my visit.

Remember also...
that a really good, solid cab is perhaps the hardest big piece to score of all... and the '77's the rarest of 'em all! If the newer winshield--and the surrounding metal-- were done 'right' when they were done, it's a big plus!
I'd just D&R that tranny (and rearend, for that matter) with AmSoil synthetic gear lube, and forgeddaboudit. Believe it or not, that stuff does work wonders... so much so that it can actually improve shifting in a used old trans. over time! (I'm not an AmSoil dealer--just a convert from my own experiences...)
And, you can get a repro. valance from Rob Golden at Pineapple Racing in Portland, OR., for just over $100 it sounds like, coming up in a couple'a weeks...

Dang
Should have known the bidding would go crazy at the end. Thanks to all that posted, especially NWACO. $2750 seemed to be a fair price, though more than I (and my wife)was prepared to spend, given the circumstances. The blue one looks good too, but I don't know if I could take the agony of another auction.

One can always inquire...
...with a seller as to the possibilty of ending the auction early... however, I would always recommend an in-person inspection prior to purchase... Good Luck!
