WTB: 74-76 Repu

Hi. I am looking for a 1974-76 Repu. I live in Columbus Ohio, and will drive to a bordering state for one. I would like it to be in decent mechanical condition (it must at least be drivable to get it home). I have $1500 to spend (hopefully that will be enough!) Thanks!

If ya wanna cast your net wide...

...I have a REPU I sold due to head out to Michigan later this month, or early next, on a transporter...perhaps you could find one out this way and consolidate w./ my buyer for savings? I have phone #'s for a couple'a '75's that were for sale in California--don't know if they still are, but I'd be happy to pass on the info. ...one was asking $1500, the other $1900... give me a ring at (541)689-7178; you'll likely get my machine, so leave me a message, incl. how late not to call, and your time difference! --K.

I believe I bought the $1900 one you're talking about a couple months back. I guess there's a chance it is a different one, but these really don't come up for sale much around here. Where was it located? If the prefix was 530 then it's the same one.

Willows, CA., eh?

...so, how do you like your sp-blue Maybell-engined REPU? I was tempted, to be sure... just wasn't proper timing for me to go there & do the deal.--K.

Yep, Willows. It is only about an hour north from me so I lucked out there. Do you know Bob?

I really like the REPU, it's a bit loud at times due to the pretty much straight through exhaust (other than the muffler) but I'm used to it. My '83 RX-7 is fairly loud as well. Having a truck is great though, I have already used it several times to haul things around.

I took a few photos:

Now if I can just find a way around smog.

I'm about 90 min. from the bay. It has a 13B (the one with larger intake ports), a stock carburetor minus all of the smog stuff. No smog pump, dual outlet headers that collect into a 3" pipe which goes into the muffler, no cats at all. I don't see any way of it passing CA emissions unless you "know" someone. I could always put a smog pump on, get some type of aftermarket cat for it or possibly get a RX-7 one to fit but I'm lazy and don't want to have to do all that work.

Isn't '75 smog exempt in 2004 anyway? I may just try waiting until then unless something else comes up.

1974's will be smog exempt in 2004. 75's in 2005 --- They moved to a 30 year rolling exemption.

You need to have everything on the engine, or know someone at a smog station.

CA must be a pain for header'd rotaries

...a high-flow cat would seem the reasonable compromise--but sounds like you'd have to know someone anyway... Sounds like you've got about the exhaust you'd want on it now...be a pity to replace it with all the stock B.S.; Best of luck!
P.S.--Nice lookin' REPU! Prob. a good deal for the motor alone...
