Need some California Stepside Fenders
Guys,
I am toying with the idea of finally attempting an extended cab dually REPU, basically a mini-hauler. I am still mulling over the engine/trans combo (will obviously be rotary), but one thing I need that I have been unsuccessful thus far in obtaining are some of the fiberglass rear fenders off a California Stepside bed. The beds were very popular in the mid to late '70s and early '80s as replacement beds for Chevy Luvs, Couriers, Datsuns, and even the REPUs. The fenders are basically shrunk-down versions of the mid-'70s full size Chevy stepside bed fenders. If you come across one of these in a junkyard or on a cheap parts truck, please let me know right away. I don't mind if I have to do some fiberglass repair to them. I would consider buying an entire bed if necessary.
Neal.
PS- I'll post a picture of what I'm after in my gallery.

Please...
...say you'll "REPU-ify" that stepside bed if you go this route... modding it as needed until it features all of the REPU's signature bits: The correct quad-taillight setup, the battery box, and, most importantly... correct-appearing REPU fender flares,(yes, even on a dually, please!)
BTW: That 'spare' bed is still here -- should you ever end up figuring our a way to get it to you, before I do something else with it, or someone else steps up, etc. ... it's still here for you. ;)

Cute, Brad...
But I think it's holding the tree up, and they're too large anyways.
Klaus- I am planning on putting the flares on a REPU bed- yours- if I can get the damn thing here sometime before we both croak....
Neal.

Cool beans, Neal!
...just remember to cut out the flares from the bed, and graft 'em back onto the wider fenders...

California Stepside
Hello Neal,
When I get my other computer back I'll scan and send you the ad for those things. They used an intirely new bed that had the bed, the fenders and tailgate with chains. There was another outfit that did duals for the REPU and you got new wheels, stud adapters and the flares to cover the added new wheels. The "Dually" approach was the one where the REPU was modified, the stepside one, the original steel was removed and replaced with new fiberglass and/or steel parts.
