Two entire taillight assemblies
I need two taillight assemblies (lense, light, and socket) for my '74. I constantly watch ebay and everything else.

Hmmmm, I might be able to help...
a bit. I can get you some the taillight reflector assemblies, but am a bit tight on the lenses, er, that is unless you want some semi- decent ones or small flaws. They will be legal though, not perfect.
It's halfway there though. Email me.

Hey Ken,
I could use one of your less-than-perfect lenses. Mine are mostly ok but one has a crack I don't know if I can repair.
Also I'd be interested in a reflector assembly or two.

Ok, Ok...I'll check the inventory....
and see what I have to offer. I know I have at least three assemblies with lenses that are "flawed". I may have more without lenses. Sorry, but I can't give up the good lenses, because a lot of my trucks had bad lights. Seems everyone "over torques the three screws and cracks the lenses. But, I'll bet you all know that as well by now.
I'll check this weekend. I won't make it to the shop where those parts are until then. Probably Sunday at the soonest because of a little Holiday dinner commitment.
By the way, I wish someone with more talent than me would take up tail light ring making. That would be a good thing to make.

I'll second that!
Taillight trim rings would be SO cool to have reproductions of... since the originals 'always' get destroyed or lost, and replacements are priced as if they were made from solid Platinum...

taillight trim rings reproduction
would you guys want and need an OEM looking one? it looks like they were stamped. the bend in them makes it more expensive to reproduce. my local machine shop wouldn't touch that project when i showed it to them.
would you guys buy repros that are flat? that would really bring cost down.

I was thinking......
the metal is very thin and soft, it may even be aluminum, I haven't recently check closely, and I can't remember offhand, but...
If one was to have a bunch of cut out of sheet stock, say maybe with a cnc plasma cutter, we possibly could make press dies out of hard urethane and hand form the bends with a manual press. The attach tabs final deep bends can be made by hand.
They are clearly non-structural, and if made with soft metal, someone might actually be able to pull it off cheaply. It would be an achievable project, and blanks would be releatively cost effective, it is the final forming and press dies that cost, but with soft trim, standard press dies can be worked around.
Just a thought, for someone with more time than me.
Although, whoever takes the initiative, gets the profit...

IMHO
Reproduction trimrings need to be basically indistinguishable from stock ones... otherwise, what's the point? It's too easy to just fab up something flat.

it sure would be nice
to find another vehicle with round tail lights, same diameter, three mounting screws, that we could pillage from.
i've scoured some online parts houses to no avail.
unfortuately to make a chrome trim ring 100% stock looking will take a lot of effort.

I agree with Klaus....
in general on the trim rings. But as for the tail lights, I was thinking of making new reflectors with LED's yet retaining the stock lenses. In other words, replacing the bulbs and reflectors only. I think it would be cool to have "stock LED's".
I agree the trim rings need to be stock looking, and I still think they can be made reletively cost effective to fab if carefully planned.

Can I get
'tumbling rotor' LED's behind my stock lenses? I know, I know... 'disco'... but they'd look totally stock until lit up!

I am interested again. I wasn;t sure for a bit as the truck was in limbo land, but i have it running and need to make it street legal. Operational lights nothing perfect.
Side lights too if anyone has them :-)
