Stretched Trucks
OK, I know this thread has probably been done before, but I thought I'd ask anyway... I am hoping to get all the pictures, first hand accounts, etc. of anyone knowing about a stretched cab and or chassis. Part of me really wants to just restore my truck back to bone stock, as it left the plant, but part of me wants to do something wild- like an extended cab longbox dually or something really bizarre. Or better yet, an SUV like a Jeep Cherokee, like the Guru has on his site (photoshop fantasy). I have a ho-hum '76 blue one here that I feel is a bit too far gone for a proper restoration, so I thought maybe leave my '75 yellow alone and go crazy with the '76. I'm hoping there's more pics out there of modified REPUs than the few that have come across the forum in the past few months.... Anyone...??
Neal.

I'm for restorations where possible, but on the other hand, if Mazda had contiued with the REPU they certainly would have made a long bed, a club or crew cab, maybe an SUV, maybe a dually for improved towing with a aux trans or 2spd rear axle, who knows?
They would have changed the interior by now as well, maybe nostalgic all metal?
Food for thought.

I guess that's basically where I'm coming from... the what ifs and what might-have-beens..... and I guess I should have been a little more clear when I said 'longbed' I was thinking of the bed in it's current length (even though it technically classifies as a short bed when talking full-size trucks), rather than shortening it to accomodate the extended cab length- I'd stretch the chassis a little to accomodate the extra cab length. Since I just love dually full size trucks, I thought it would look really neat on a REPU. Of course, I would use a T2 or REW engine to help with extra torque and horsepower to tow....
