1500 mile REPU Christmas trip
So for Christmas my girlfriend and I drove from Phoenix to Montrose, CO (about 700 miles give or take) in the REPU. She didnt seem too thrilled about the idea but after some pouting I got my way, hehe.
The drive up was going pretty good until about half way there the speedometer started squeaking, now I had a project for the weekend. We passed through Durango and Silverton on the way up, got some nice snow and mountain pictures.
The drive home we went though southern Utah and down the Mokee Dugway and through Monument Valley. Very spectacular the Mokee Dugway is, I havent been there in about 15 years. I forgot how much fun that is, 1100 foot decent in 3 miles down the side of a cliff.
REPU managed about 17 miles per gallon with average speeds around 75. I am very happy with her performance this trip! What a fun road trip vehicle, and the girlfriend even liked the truck in the end.
I wonder if image tags work...

If that doesnt work check them out on my page at http://bud.homeunix.net:8000/imgs/christmas_05/index.html

WAY TO GO TOM
looks like a good trip. my repu and i went from torrance to glen ellen (by sonoma) and back. got okay gas mileage, it really liked the chevron super and bottle of outlaw octane booster i used on the last fillup. i may have the gf make a vinyl tonnau cover for REPU, that woulda really helped out keeping elements and eyes out of the truckbed.

I was going to try and half ass a tonnau cover with a tarp and some rope, but as you can see by the pictures it didnt work out to well and I just ended up coccooning the luggage in the tarp and roping it all together. Oh well, maybe try and make a cover for next time. Lots of fun this trip, the REPU really cruises nicely since changing the fuel filter. Even at 4500 RPM it is nice and smooth :)
Oh yeah, the TP was indeed in case I poop myself if the brakes scare me on that 10% grade.

Nice!
Congrat's on a great trip, and Happy New Year!
(Ever been to Goblin Valley? If not, you should make sure to check it out next time you're passing thru anywhere near SW Utah... it's *surreal*).
BTW-- In theory, rotaries have no great need for high octane fuel to perform well... something about how fast the charge gets spit back out at hi RPM's... (that said, better quality fuel is better fuel...)

image tags
Image tags are as follows...
I have a picture online at http://bud.homeunix.net:8000/imgs/christmas_05/images/dsc01791.jpg
To get the image to show in the thread I need to specify that as being an image. That is as follows, except use the square braces [] instead of greater than, less than.
<img>http://bud.homeunix.net:8000/imgs/christmas_05/images/dsc01791.jpg</img>
Doing so will put the picture directly in the thread
