Has ne one else noticed that these trucks are pretty heavy...i was takin off the hood on my 84 and that took 2 people to move her ....i think the first thing is find a carbon fiber hood and see how that looks ....if this truck is gonna fly then i gotta make it as light as i can ....right?....

The REPUs are ~2700lbs, which relatively speaking not that heavy. My '91 RX-7 convertible is something like 3,450. Camaros are ~3,333 (who could forget that number?).

Miatas which are really one of the lightest cars I can think of off the top of my head are ~2,400lbs which is really only about 300 pounds less than the REPU.

All that said, having lifted the bed off of my truck (with two friends) I can definitely say it FEELS like it weighs 10 tonnes.

Let me know where you're getting this CF hood though, I'd be interested to see that.

were you reading the tag that is in the driver's side door jam?

If so that is not the weight of your car, that is how much weight your vert will haul!

A vert 2nd gen weigh's like 2750 or so. Maybe 100 lb's more. My TII only wieghs like 2600 lb.

No, I'm not crazy.

No I'm not reading the gross vehicle weight, which is not how much your vert will haul, BTW its how much total weight the chassis and suspension will support (i.e. how much weight in addition to the weight of the car itself).

Curb weight for FCs in America varied in weight from year to year in stock form. If your TII is anywhere close to 2,600 pounds then its probably and '86, '87 or an '88.
After that they jumped up by over 150lbs and by almost another 200 by 1991 to just over 3,000lbs.

Convertibiles in general are the porkiest (and '91s specifically as all 7's got heavier as the years went on) and were tipping the scale at ~3,100 pounds by end of production in 1992.

In my case my car has been weighed on a scale. My cabrio is strictly for cruising with the top down and I've never spent the money to make it fast so its loaded down with strereo equipment and other conveniences. This brings it to a little over 3,400lbs all said and done.

This scale manages to get my bodyweight within 10-15lbs so its not THAT far off. Besides which salvage yard scales (at least in FL) are subject to state inspection and regulation.

Anyway... ~3,400lbs.
