carb questions
Does anybody know of a source for a carb rebuild kit for a 75? That's assuming I can properly ID it. And what are the correct "leaner" jets to put into it? Now that the non-stock pollution controls "fell off", leaving a racing beat header. Sounds much better, and runs better too, but still cannot be started with the choke on, too rich and floods. I don't know what the PO did to get past portland's halfwit inspectors, as the blown up cat(?) was hollow. Did someone do a thermal reactor that went back away from the engine, about under the passenger seat? Not what I remember from my 74, or any other early rotary.

Your rebuild kit
..ought to be darn near, if not exactly the same as for '74's...including '74 rx-4's. These will be listed under a different #, though.
I used to see these come up on Ebaymotors... when I was keeping tabs on Ebay.
Racing Beat lists the stock jets as being 106M primary/140M secondary. The only recommended change is from the 106 to a 105 on the primary.
From what you're describing, I'd check the inlet needle and seat, and the float...
There's no such thing as a 'thermal reactor' that was anywhere but right up against the exhaust ports on the engine housings themselves; anything farther back might've been a cat, or, more likely, a glasspack or some such BS.
If you're fortunate, you've got a RB power pulse, or mini power pulse presilencer under there!
Hope this helped...

The "cat" looking device had the air line from the air pump hooked up to it, just like some cats and all thermal reactors, but it was an empty shell. Still runs better without it. I remember changing both an rx3 and a repu to leaner jets to maximize power after adding a header.
Starting procedure now is, turn ignition on and wait for fuel pressure, pump pedal once, start and then pull out choke to keep it running. Not what I remember...Got to be very rich, as it floods if you choke it first.

Sounds like ...
...someone rigged it up 'special' to pass the emissions tests, or something...(?) Might stand to reason that excessively rich jetting/setting was required to dump enough unburnt fuel into the exhaust, to allow it to finish burning with the air being pumped in...(?)
Then again, there's no telling how someone who didn't know better might've messed things up, until you get in there.
