Door weatherstripping and adhesives
When I painted my truck I replaced the door weathersrips with OEM parts, used 3M black weatherstrip adhesive as advised by the shop owner/buddy by his instructions and have had marginal results. They keep coming loose, I wasn`t stingy with the amount I used. So now I`m buying the 77 and later door gaskets and will spend a whole weekend cleaning up the black weathestrip adhesive, as the later door gaskets are a pinch welt and do not require adhesive. However I`m going to try replacing the glass run channels again, I used the same adhesive with poor results. Do any of my REPU brothers advise a different adhesive that might give better results? please help a novice wannabe semi-restorer, this is my first atempt at a complete rebuild.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

I used contact adhesive; the stuff you put on both surfaces and let set for a couple of minutes. Once you put the surfaces together, they stick!
Be sure to clean the metal edges with prepsol or alcohol. It also helps to have another person to feed you the wx strip so it doesn't tangle and stick to itself.

contact adhesive
did you use it on glass run channels? or just the door opening weatherstrips.

I used more of it on the door openings.
As I recall, the window wx almost stays by itself in the channels, so I used a lot less and rolled up the window to hold it in until it dried.
