"REPU" Badge !!!

I have seen a little thing fitted down at a repuīs front fender in an old sales brochure... And i could just hardly read out the word "REPU" on it, but i am not sure that i have seen right... Is this a badge that where mounted on a few pickups at the US market or is it something else ???

I would want to get a couple of these badges if some one have any !!! Or if someone have a picture to show one for me , would be nice !!!

And the big question is ,When did the word "REPU" began itīs life as a shortcut word for Rotary Engine Pick Up ??? Who invented this shortcut word ,was it Mazda them self or some other guys ???

From :
A Repu owner in sweden...

Only ever seen in brochure pics...

...as far as I know. That additional badge might be the rarest early item that changed (?)... As far as the term 'REPU', I have no idea... I'd guess that the factory guys were tossing the term around before anyone else, though...
BTW, nice looking REPU you've got there, Lasse! I especially like the one big driving light in the middle of your grille... hope it doesn't block too much air from the radiator!

Rare indeed.

I have had a couple of 74 trucks that I was able to inspect the back side of the lower fender. No holes drilled there..Hmmmm??? Maybe the badge was glued on for the picture.

I always thought the badge looked like the "rotary engine" badge on the back of the 79-80 rx7.Or something similar.

According to local folklore here. The term REPU came from Mazda service guys in the mid 70's who got sick of writing "Rotary Engine Pick up" on service slips.

But, who knows for sure?

My Mazda factory REPU shop manual and wiring diagram both have Mazda stickers on them, with part numbers, etc. Description for the shop manual is "REPUWKSMNL"

So I think the REPU name got around at good old Mazda.
