That is the cleanest RE/PU on the planet in my opinion. It is even nicer that Craigs old truck I think, and the one in Seattle for sale.Even being an automatic doesn't change my opinion one bit.I am not sure I would trust those tires with my life, but wow what an amazing find.If I had the means that would be my truck.Heck I would even trade my 78 RX-7(early production),and my 74 RE/PU for it,but I doubt that would even cover what that truck is worth. If the guy selling the one in Seattle is getting legitimate offers of $10+k then I have no idea what this one is worth.

What a time capsule.I hope whoever buys it takes as good car of it as the original owner. It would be a shame to see such a nice truck ruined.

I haven't heard of a truck selling for over $5k because the market is so narrow. There's a lot of interest from buyers who want to race a rotary around town if they can get it cheap enough.

For you, it would be worth keeping as an investment since the market for collectable early Japanese imports is expanding. Why not just keep it in a garage for awhile and see what happens? Bring it out to the rallys once in awhile. You'll need to get a set of stock wheels and trim rings. It would be great to get original tires too.

Would you mind revealing what you paid for it? I'm sure it is probably already a great investment.

Wow, that is by far the cleanest original example of a repu I've ever seen. I will say, my truck is nice but as far as originality, that is the one. I would guess that its worth at least $10,000 in my opinion. I would like to know how you found it?

Unreal!

Agreed: What you have there is --by the pictures, at least-- *THE* cleanest, most original, stock example of a REPU likely remaining anywhere on the planet.

Your find warrants very extra-special care and treatment: You'll want to carefully store her indoors, out of the harmful reach of sunlight, where nothing can *possibly* scratch or ding her. That un-cracked dashboard cover is priceless; I'd throw a towel over it, whenever it's not being driven. Whatever you do, don't ever let that ashtray drop--(broken corners are the norm.)

I also wouldn't let *anyone* lean up against her, under any circumstances--let alone with the possibility of *rivets* in their jeans!!!

Due to it's age, and having most likely effectively been in storage much of those years, special preventative maintenance is also in order: I'd want to install full synthetic oil in the engine, flush the cooling system, and fully service that automatic trans., pretty much immediately--just for starters.

Were I seeking professional input, I would start by contacting Racing Beat, (conveniently located in Anaheim).

If there ever was such a thing as a $10K (plus?) REPU, this one is likely it, IMHO. And, best of all: It's Blue! ;)

If you purchased this REPU just to turn her over, consider doing that nice old lady a favor, and cut her in for a little percentage...

I have contacted racing beat, they said it can summon a pretty penny at auction, the truck is as good as it looks, can drive anywhere with it. that good

Has anyone else received some what nasty emails from REPUZENTN bitching about raising the price of the truck,by saying how nice they thought it was/is?I sure hope I'm not the only lucky one.I think he thinks I am conspiring to raise the price of the truck, which was not my intent.

I simply think this is the nicest example of a RE/PU in the world(no disrespect to Craigs old red truck),and maybe Mazda might be interested in this one.I just wish the original owner would/did get what I think the truck is worth instead of someone buying, and flipping it for a major profit.I also hope it isn't hacked-up,and ruined by someone in the future,as I believe these truck hold a special place in rotary/mazda's history.

If it were me, and your sole purpose is to flip it, just take as many pictures as possible. Pay Racing Beat to do a full inspection / fluid replacement. Have them document any issues, and put it all up on E-Bay. It's the best way to get it out there, and let the market determine the price. I concur with the opinion of the 10K range. But really, anything over $6K or so should be gravy.

Advertise it here. Use the term "REPU" in the listing.

I want to sell it, and still by a rotary if i dont get what i want , its gonna go to shows and win me items, no biggy, stays in garage and is not driven hardly at all.

Thank you Micah for setting the record straight! I never intended to raise anything. I just love the truck, and I hope it finds a good home.I wish it were in my garage, but that will have to wait until my boys are older, and out of the house. I don't even care that it is an automatic.

Well, mazdarx605, I was gonna make mica an offer, but instead you made one for me and for that I am grateful. Hence, the e-mail "Thanks for raising the bid/offer for me, dammit!!!"

I apologize if you received it as a "nasty" e-mail, that was not my intention.

Well I am sorry, but it came off as rather pissy, and accusatory to me.I never intended to do what you were implying, and I was simply commenting on how nice it was.My comments about the price being high was just in reference to the white truck in Seattle, and Craigs old red truck. To be honest I wish more of these trucks would come around because I think it raises the prices for the middle ground trucks like the one I own.

Again I am sorry if I offended,or pissed you off,I wasn't my intention, and hopefully we can all get along.I don't want to start anything with a fellow RE/PU owner, and create another spin-off website like has happened in the past(not because of me). This is a rather small section of the rotary world, and I hate when it is in turmoil.

To Micah,If you decide to sell that truck, please do us all a favor, and try to send it to a worthy home. Myself, along with others I am sure on this forum would hate to see it destroyed.

Yeah, its too easy to be mistaken when just reading a post, you gotta use smilies!! Anyhow, I applaud micah's intentions to preserve this bit of history. I've saved all your pictures and if you put up more I'd like to see more closeups inside the engine compartment. Maybe someday I'll be able to see it in person. Since the truck is smog exempt it would be too tempting for a buyer to customize it. I disagree that ebay is the best place for auto auctions. I think for a specialty vehicle, they are the worst! I've seen too many coolectables go for a song on that site. And I wouldn't sell it at one of those vintage auctions either since people there don't appreciate rotaries. My 2 cents is if you go to sevenstock (in your area too) and hob nob around you can find out who the collectors are and then contact them thru a third party. This is just like real estate, you'd benefit from an agent paid or not.

Maybe so, maybe not...:

All depends on how quick, and how certain a 'deal' is desired/required.

Bear in mind that, IMHO, in this instance, *each and every* single thing that might 'happen' to, or be altered on, this particular REPU will cut into it's value. That includes *any* little dings, scratches, cracks, and additional wear to amazing original components -- including those tires! Preservation is *absolutely* key. No room for mistakes.

If it's not insured as the irreplaceable collector truck it is, you'll want to pursue that, immediately.

RE: 'Fleabay' -- Indeed, it can cut both ways. For many items, it's the low-ball outhouse. Also, it can all depend on just who happens to get online that week, or not... or do which particular search, etc., etc., etc.

I'd be happy to be your 'agent', (as suggested by another member), for a percentage -- which I would split 50/50 with that nice old lady, or her estate, just to be kind.

Yes you are right!!! It would certainly belong in the Mazda Museum. Wonder if Mazda could be persuaded to come up with some cash. I'd even chip in a little.
